On Friday in ogbomoso, Oyo State, the Chairman of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Gen. Buba Marwa had stated that the southwest and south- south have the highest drug abuse cases in the whole of Nigeria.
Furthermore adding that a reduce in drug equals a reduce in insurgency, banditry and kidnapping across the country. He said this during an inauguration of a rehabilitation centre for drug addicts called Behavioural Action centre built by a group called Ogbomoso first initiative.
He revealed a rate of drug abuse in Southwest to be 22.4%, South-South to be 16.6%, South-East to be 13.8%, North-East to be 13.6%, North-West to be 12% and finally North Central to be 10% respectively.
In his own words he urged Ogbomoso Community to enforce a demand of drug free certificates to any man before giving their daughters hand in marriage and vice versa.
