Suspected kidnappers have abducted Hyacinth Nwiye who serves as the All Progressives Congress (APC) caretaker committee chairman in Khana local government area of Rivers state.
The spokesperson for the party, Ogbonna Nwuke, disclosed that Nwiye was abducted on Sunday night, April 4, from his residence in the Khana area, PM News reported.
Nwuke said: “The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the APC in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State was snatched on Sunday from his home by unknown persons.
“We have been briefed that he was taken into captivity at a time when well-meaning people were celebrating the resurrection of our Lord, the Son of God.”
The party demanded the unconditional release of its chieftain. According to The Nation, the APC blamed Nwiye’s abduction on the inability of the Rivers state government to guarantee appropriate security protection at the grassroots.
The party called on security agencies in the state to do everything necessary to rescue their kidnapped member.
